Marathon Events Of Gyeongju

       This story is about two annual marathon events of Gyeongju. Gyeongju wanted to hold marathon event for all kinds of people, but only Cherry Blossom Marathon was held for amateurs. “The Cherry Blossom Marathon has been held each year in Gyeongju since 1992, usually in April, to improve relations with Japan (a country with a long history of marathon running)” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gyeongju). Many people participated in that event even foreigners. “The race, mainly sponsored by Gyeongju city and the district, attracted 13,600 participants in 2009 including about 1,600 foreigners” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gyeongju). So, Gyeongju held a marathon every October Gyeongju International Marathon since 2007, and some professional runners compete to be the winner. Then, Gyeongju became famous for two annual marathon events, and when spring, or fall comes people visit my hometown to join in the marathon. Thanks to two events, all kinds of people enjoy the marathon. As I am from Gyeongju, I am proud of holding two marathon events. I also think some of Gyeongju citizens are healthier than before.

My Experience In Cherry Blossom Marathon Event

        I would like to tell you about my experience in Cherry Blossom Marathon event. I have watched the race with my family because my uncle participated in that event every year. We have seen many runners that raced very hard, have eaten gimbab in Hwangseong park and have cheered my uncle passionately. The marathon helped my family be together, so I was very happy. I also wanted to join in that event.

                     My Happy And Interesting Time

Last summer vacation, I did many interesting things. First, I visited Seoul for 2 days. In Seoul, I went to Gyeongbokgung, Myeongdong, and Insadong. I saw a play named "Happy Together". It was very moving. There are many people, and various attractions. Second, I started to do Kendo. Kendo is Japanese. fencing. It was not easy, but I tried to do well. Also, it helped my health and relieved stress. During summer vacation, I studied many things and changed a little. It was a very happy time.

A Friendly Hwangsung Park

I would like to talk about my hometown, I'm from Gyeongju. My favorite thing to do is to go to Hwangsung park. It is in Hwangsungdong. I go there twice a week. If I go to there with my family and pet, we take a walk around a park. If I go there with my friends, we spread a mat, drink beer, and talk to anything. Hwangsung park is very friendly because many people play around each other, and there are many trees, flowers, squirrels, and birds. This is what I like about it.
